A Beginner’s Guide to Understanding Cricket Rules

Cricket may seem complicated at first, but it becomes easy to follow once you know the basics. The game is played in three main formats: Test matches (up to five days), ODIs (50 overs per side), and T20s (20 overs per side). Despite their differences, the fundamental rules are the same.

The batting team scores runs by hitting the ball and running between the wickets, while the bowling team aims to dismiss the batsmen and limit runs. Key dismissals include bowled (ball hits the stumps), caught (fielder catches the ball before it lands), LBW (leg before wicket), and run-out.

Fielding positions and strategies add depth, while boundaries like fours and sixes make the game thrilling. Each inning is divided into overs, with six deliveries per over. Test cricket is slow and strategic, while ODIs and T20s are faster and packed with excitement.

Understanding these basics makes cricket an enjoyable mix of strategy, skill, and fun for all fans.
